Bookings for India’s first home grown sports car, the DC Avanti have opened. The car comes with an ex-factory price of Rs. 35 Lakhs. The booking amount for the Avanti is Rs. 5 Lakhs and deliveries are expected to start from March next year.
To be produced at DC’s plant in Talegaon,Maharashtra, the Avanti will feature a carbon-fibre body shell and gets a lightweight space frame chassis. Powered by Ford’s 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine mounted in the middle in true sports car tradition, 254 PS of power and 360 Nm of twist are channeled to the rear wheels of the Avanti. All this power and torque is handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox.
DC claims that the 1.5-tonne Avanti can get up to 100 km/h in less than 6-seconds and will keep accelerating till the car hits an electronic limited top speed of 180 km/h. And being an Indian supercar, the DC Avanti will come with a Indian-road friendly 170mm of ground clearance, similar to that found on several hatchbacks.
