Nissan will soon be offering their Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) on the XL variant (base trim) of the Micra in India. The Japanese carmaker is hoping to lure customers with added VFM and convenience that’s offered by an automatic transmission. The CVT-equipped Micra XL will benefit from some added features that are not seen on the standard Micra XL; these include an audio system, reverse parking sensors, and safety nannies such anti-lock brakes and a driver-side airbag.
The CVT was only available on the XV trim of the Micra till now
The Nissan Micra XL CVT will be powered by the 1.2-litre three-pot petrol engine that continues to develop 77 PS of max power and 104 Nm of torque. Currently, Nissan only offers the XV variant of the Micra with their Xtronic CVT gearbox, and the variant is priced at just over INR 7 lakh (ex-showroom). The CVT-equipped XL trim variant of the Micra is likely to be priced at around INR 6 lakh (ex-showroom) when launched sometime in June 2015.
