We reported in detail when it first emerged that the good folks at Mahindra Two Wheelers plan to soon launch a cut-price, bare basic variant of the its Pantero commuter bike. The upcoming base variant of the Pantero has once again been spotted near Pune and we have come to know of some more details of the upcoming variant of the bike.
The soon-to-be-launched Pantero base model would be deprived of the bikini fairing and would get a round headlamp. Apart from this, the cut-price Pantero would also miss out on digital speedo, alloy wheels and the electric starter.
With the launch of the new base model, the Pantero will be sold in as many as five variants and details of current variants are as follows-
- The fully loaded T1 variant has a sticker price of INR 48,990. T1 gets Self Start, Alloys, Digital speedo.
- The T2 variant is on sale for a price of INR 47,990. T2 gets Self Start, Alloys, Analogue speedo.
- The T3 has a selling price of INR 45,690. T3 gets Kick Start, Alloys, Analogue speedo.
- The low end T4 variant has a price of INR 44,690 The T4 variant offers Analog Display, Kick Start and Spoked Wheels.

The upcoming variant could be called as the Pantero T5 and is likely to be priced much lower than the INR 44000 mark. This means that the bike could become one of the least priced bikes in our bike market.
Powering the Mahindra Pantero is a 107cc four stroke single cylinder engine that has a max power output of 8.5 PS @ 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 8.5 Nm @ 5,500 rpm. The motor comes mated to a 4 speed manual transmission.
It would be interesting to see if the upcoming Mahindra Pantero T5 base model would be potent enough to give the entry level bike a better showing on the sales charts.
