Just In: Happenings at Chevrolet’s stall – Updated on 5th Jan at 2:30pm
Chevrolet’s stall at the Auto Expo has been done up in three themes namely Dream, Performance and Hot Hatch.
The Dream section is featuring the Volt, Electric Spark, Spark LPG, and Aveo CNG.
The Performance section is featuring the Camaro, WTCC Cruze, Captiva Extreme, and the regular Cruze.
The Hot Hatch section is featuring the Beat which was launched yesterday on 4th Jan.
Chevrolet Camaro
Electric Spark:
This car is powered by an electric motor and is not a hybrid. It also features automatic transmission. There are two modes for the driver to switch between namely Regular and Boost mode. In Boost mode the engine generates more torque. There is no information about the range of the vehicle.
Aveo CNG:
Its features include:
Sequential injection kit
Hardened valves and Pistons to prevent damage in CNG mode
Minimum deterioration in performance during CNG mode compared to petrol mode
3year/ 1 lakh kilometres warranty
Captiva Extreme:
Chevrolet has launched the Captiva Extreme. The SUV now features some cosmetic upgrades namely:
Re-designed front bumpers
Electric Sun-roof
Two-tone interiors in red/black combination
Blacked out front headlamps
Smoked tail-lamps
Chevrolet will have one of the most important exhibits in the Expo. Making its grand debut will be the Chevrolet Beat. There are rumors of an 800 cc Spark that will challenge the living daylights out of the Alto. Then there is news about the new U-VA and the world premiere of the M300 Aveo sedan to add to the excitement of the show.
Camaro:
The chances of a near-stampede happening at the Chevrolet are quite high as the manufacturer will be showcasing its 2010 Camaro. The first Camaro rolled out of GM’s factory in 1967 and till its production was stopped in 2002. GM later started production of the fifth generation Camaro in March 2009 while sales started in the next month.
The Camaro recently gained immense popularity among in the public eye for potraying the character of ‘Bubblebee’ in the movie Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen.
New Aveo (M300 platform):
Along with this will be the LPG version of the Aveo.

Beat:
It is not just the exteriors of the car that is stunning. The interiors as well are designing marvels.
The Chevrolet Beat boasts of a ‘wheels out – body in’ stance that adds to the aggressiveness of the car.
General Motors have seen to it that the Chevrolet Beat gets its share of stunning looks, no matter from which angle you see it. “From the beginning, we wanted to have a revolution in size and design,” stated Taewan Kim, Beat chief designer and vice president of design at GM DAT (GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co.). “Instead of the relatively common ‘cute and cuddly’ approach, we wanted Beat to be a little more aggressive, edgy, ready to pounce. It needed to look great from 360 degrees and it needed to generate excitement.”

Cruze WTCC Race car:
Along with the Cruze Automatic will be its close sibling, the Cruze WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) Race car. This car is a race track version of the muscular street car.
The Cruze WTCC Race car boasts of a 2.0-litre petrol Engine

Spark 800:
An electric prototype version of the Spark will also be displayed at the Expo. This Spark Electric is the joint effort of General Motors India and Reva.
Price: 2.5 lakh
Launch: Q2, 2010
Vital Statistics: 800 cc, 3-cyl, ~55PS petrol
Rivals: Maruti-Suzuki Alto.
Volt:
The Chevrolet Volt is an Electricity Powered vehicle from the GM India stable.
This car will add to the eco-friendly theme of the Auto Expo.
Fritz Henderson, CEO – General Motors, had revealed that the company would definitely launch the Chevrolet Volt, by end-2010 or early-2011. He said the car will definitely go into production by November/December 2010.
