While the Sail hatchback hasn’t really been doing well in our car market, the Sail sedan is surely giving a decent performance on Indian car sales charts.

We have always felt that the Chevrolet Sail sedan is a well sorted out car which has been well priced and surely deserves a respectable fate in Indian car market. The Sail offers a conventional but neat exterior design, spacious interiors, high equipment levels, three year free maintenance plan and has been priced very competitively. GM India has taken care of the Aveo’s Achilles heels by plonking in the 75 bhp 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel engine that powers most of the B segment and C segment cars and has won a lot of accolades from its users and international media.

It has emerged that the manufacturer has managed to receive over 8,000 bookings for Sail sedan in just a couple of months since the new car’s launch.

The Sail sedan doesn’t really have the kind of effect that the Honda Amaze has on prospective entry level sedan buyers. However, the new sedan from Chevrolet has definitely managed to put on a decent show. The Amaze is Honda India’s first diesel car and promises to be the game changer by offering the most powerful and fuel efficient diesel engine variant in its class along with coming with traditional Honda strengths. The Amaze has a 1.5 litre diesel engine that has a max power output of 100 PS. This makes the Amaze more powerful than not just the Dzire diesel and the Sail diesel but also more powerful than the Linea diesel and the SX4 diesel. Along with having class leading power figure, the diesel engine on the Amaze has an ARAI certified fuel economy figure of 25.8 kmpl, making the car the most fuel efficient passenger vehicle in the entire country.
