Chevrolet Sail sedan Launch on February 1

After almost a hundred speculations regarding the Chevrolet Said sedan launch, it has finally emerged that the car will be introduced in 3 cities on February 1. The 3 cities which will get the car are Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

The all new Chevrolet Sail sedan, which will come with a notchback, will fill the void left by the not so popular Chevrolet Aveo.

GM India has already started promoting its new car as ‘A New Definition of Style’ and the it is being expected that the car will be launched at a starting price of around INR 6.25 lakhs.

The GM India website says that the upcoming car has- Designed to turn heads, Excellent leg room,  Generous boot space, Safe Cage structure for occupant safety

Very much like the Sail UVA hatchback, the sedan will get a long list of features that include options like an engine start stop switch and Bluetooth enabled entertainment system.

The Sail sedan looks bog similar to the UVA hatchback till the B pillars, after which it gets different rear doors, a boot and chunky tail lamps. The car also gets new design alloy wheels to differentiate it further from the hatchback,

Also, as with the Sail hatchback, the sedan will have acres of interior space and quality fabric & plastics on the inside.

Powering the Sail sedan would be a 1.3 litre Multijet engine and the 1.2 litre petrol motor that the car would share with the hatchback sibling. Spacious interiors, modern styling and diesel engine should see Sail sedan giving some tough time to high selling Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.

Price

The Chevrolet Sail Sedan is expected to have a sticker price of INR 6.25 lakhs for the base petrol variant.

Specifications

The 1.2 litre petrol motor that will power the Sail sedan churns out 86 PS@6000RPM and 113 Nm@ 5000 RPM. The engine boasts of an ARAI certified FE figure of 18.2 km/l. The 1.3 litre motor, on the other hand, produces 78 PS@ 4000 RPM and 205Nm@1750 RPM. The diesel engine has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 22.1 km/l.

Both these engines are mated to 5-speed manual ‘box. The Chevrolet Sail sedan’s suspension setup comprises of McPherson Strut at front and twist axle system at rear.
