Chevrolet India launched the much publicised Chevrolet Sail sedan in the highly competitive small sedan segment of Indian car market today. The new Chevrolet Sail is the successor of the ‘not so popular’ Aveo sedan that was discontinued a few months ago. It may be noted that thanks to an unexciting styling and lack of an oil burner, the Aveo siblings could never manage to do well in the country. While the styling continues to remain understated on the replacement models, the diesel engine option should make life a lot easier for the Sail sisters.
Sail is already doing duty in the Chinese market and the car has been made keeping the developing countries in mind.

Design
GM has played safe with the Aveo’s styling, probably, a tad too safe to make the car stand out in a market crowded with small sedans. While the Sail breaks no new ground in the styling department, I have to admit that it does look a generation ahead of the car it replaces.
Upfront, the bonnet has a muscular crease running across it which looks good and adds character to the car’s styling. The car features upswept headlamps, new Chevrolet family grill and  together with the beefy bumper, the front end is far from being boringly rectangular.
Coming to the side, the bland surfaces continue and the car can really do with blacked out B pillars. The car comes with stylish 8 spoke alloy wheels on the top end variants.
The Rear end, with somewhat ‘Linea-ish’ taillamps and a beefy bumper, finally provides some visual relief.
Overall, the Sail is a neat design but nothing ground breaking here.
On the inside, the car shares the panels with the hatchback sibling and makes use of beige upholstery and faux silver to elevate the appeal of the conservatively styled interiors.
