Chevrolet Sail Sedan Spotted Testing. Launch Soon

The recently launched Sail hatchback is Chevrolet India’s comeback product for Indian Premium hatchback segment. As is very well known, the hatchback will be joined by the sedan sibling in our car market and now that hatchback has been launched, it is matter of time before GM India launches the Sail sedan in the highly competitive entry level sedan segment

The Chevrolet Sail sedan was recently caught testing by our friend Dhananjay Ambekar and the Chevrolet India testing the Sail sedan sans any camouflage means the car is very near its launch. We expect that the car maker would introduce the sedan in Jan-Mar 2013.

Very much like the Sail UVA hatchback, the sedan would get a long list of features that include options like an engine start stop switch and Bluetooth enabled entertainment system.

The Sail sedan would look bog similar to the UVA hatchback till the B pillars, after which it gets different rear doors, a boot and chunky tail lamps. The car also gets new design alloy wheels to differentiate it further from the hatchback,

Also, as with the Sail hatchback, the sedan will have acres of interior space and quality fabric & plastics on the inside. The Sail sedan would be the successor to the Aveo sedan which could never do well owing to the lack of an oil burner.

Powering the Sail sedan would be a 1.3 litre Multijet engine and the 1.2 litre petrol motor that the car would share with the hatchback sibling. Spacious interiors, modern styling and diesel engine should see Sail sedan giving some tough time to high selling Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.

Price

The Chevrolet Sail Sedan is expected to have a sticker price of INR 5.2 lakhs for the base petrol variant.

Specifications

The 1.2 litre petrol motor that will power the Sail sedan churns out 86 PS@6000RPM and 113 Nm@ 5000 RPM. The engine boasts of an ARAI certified FE figure of 18.2 km/l. The 1.3 litre motor, on the other hand, produces 78 PS@ 4000 RPM and 205Nm@1750 RPM. The diesel engine has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 22.1 km/l.

  1. Dear Chevrolet, please ensure that power window switches are shifted from ahead of the gearbox lever to the doors or at least dashboard!
