Chevrolet India reduces the price of the 2016 Cruze by Rs. 86,000

Chevrolet India had launched the facelifted version of its popular sedan, the Cruze in the last week of January this year. Now, barely a month after its launch, the company has announced a price cut of upto Rs. 86,000 for the Cruze. The Chevrolet Cruze will now come with a price tag starting at Rs. 13.95 lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).

The base model of the Cruze will now become affordable by Rs. 73,000 while the top model will come with a discount of Rs.80,000 and the top end AMT variant will become cheaper by Rs. 86,000. The move will prove to be a more value for money proposition for customers on one side as well as increase its sales for the company on the other side.

Changes to the Cruze facelift from its previous version include dual bezel design headlamps with the ‘follow me home’ technology, LED DRLs and projector fog-lamps up-front. The posterior comprises of split design tail lamps, chrome exhaust pipe finisher and a chrome trunk-lid garnish. Other new features on the exterior include electric sunroof, power folding and heated ORVMs, all 4 power windows with express down with driver side window equipped with express up and pinch guard.

Coming to the interiors, one is greeted by a black, wraparound theme with titanium coloured inserts, along with with jet black seats and titanium coloured stitch highlights. The 7 inch MY-LINK Touch-screen Infotainment System is also a new feature. Additionally, the Cruze facelift also receives phone telephony with voice recognition and touch controls for automatic HVAC and Vehicle Personalization settings.

Powering the Chevrolet Cruze facelift is the conventional 2.0-litre turbocharged VCDi engine that produces a power output of 166 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.  Safety features includes dual front airbags and two side airbags apart from ABS and Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS).

The Chevrolet Cruze facelift is now priced at Rs. 16.9 lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) making it cheaper than most of its rivals. The competition to the Cruze comes in the form of the Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Elantra, etc.
