We reported in detail when Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the country’s second-largest car manufacturer, launched the Grand i10, in Indian car market. Now, here is a new promotional video of the car that went online recently.
The Grand i10 is different from the Euro-spec 2014 i10 but has been designed at Hyundai’s European design centre in Germany using design cues of Hyundai’s globally acclaimed ‘Fluidic Design’ theme. As we have been telling, the Grand i10 is longer and has larger wheelbase compared to its European version to cater to the space related need of Indian customers.
The Grand i10 has gone on sale with two engine options- 1.1 litre CRDi diesel and 1.2 litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol.
The 1.1 litre CRDi diesel engine has a max power of 71PS@4,000rpm and peak torque of 16.3kgm@1,500~2,750rpm. Hyundai claims that the Grand i10 has a best-in-class mileage of 24.0 kmpl (ARAI figure). The diesel engine is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission that transfers power to the front wheels.
The petrol variant is powered by the all-aluminum 1.2 litre Kappa petrol engine that benefits from Dual VTVT mechanism. The car has a max power of 83PS@6,000rpm and peak torque of 11.6Kgm@4,000rpm. The engine has a claimed FE of 18.9 kmpl (ARAI figure). The petrol engine offers the choice of 5-speed manual transmission and Automatic Transmission.
The Grand i10 offers some first-in-segment features such as Rear AC vents, Cooled Glove box, Integrated audio system with 1 GB hard drive, smart key with push button start and stop for keyless entry/exit and ignition on/off and auto folding outside rear view mirrors. The audio system of the new Grand i10 also offers Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in connectivity, along with steering mounted audio controls.
