Suzuki Gixxer and Let's

Suzuki plans to improve its market share by targeting the younger audience base with its new Gixxer 155 motorcycle. The company has already commenced bookings of the motorcycle but there has been no official word on the launch date. But automotive website Bike Wale has got its hands on the brochure of the Gixxer 155 which confirms all the technical specifications of the motorcycle.

Engine

  • Engine Type: 4-Stroke, Single-cylinder, Air Cooled
  • Valve system: SOHC, 2 valve
  • Displacement: 154.9cc
  • Bore/Stroke: 56.0 X 62.9mm
  • Engine Output: 10.4 kW +/- 5% @ 8000 RPM
  • Torque: 14Nm @ 6000 RPM
  • Fuel System: Carburetor
  • Starter System: Electric
  • Transmission Type: 5 Speed, Manual Transmission

Powering the Gixxer 155 is a 154.9cc 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC 2 valve engine which produces 13.9 hp of power and 14Nm of torque. Sadly, the company has not opted for an fuel injected engine which would have put it in a strong place against the Yamaha FZ version 2. The brochure also says that the motorcycle misses out on the kick starter so minor battery issues or cold starts may result in ignition issues.

Dimensions and weight

  • Wheels: Cast
  • Overall Length: 2050mm
  • Overall Width: 785mm
  • Overall Height: 1030mm
  • Wheel Base: 1330mm
  • Ground Clearance: 160mm
  • Seat Height: 780mm
  • Curb Mass: 135 kg
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 12 Litres

At 2050mm of length and 785mm of width, the Gixxer is a little bigger than the FZ version 2. However, the seat height is 10mm shorter than the FZ version 2 which may prove better for the shorter riders.

The new Gixxer will be available in five colours: Metallic Oort Grey, Candy Antares Red, Glass Sparkle Black, Metallic Triton Blue and Pearl Mirage White.

Would you opt for the Suzuki Gixxer or go for the Yamaha FZ Version 2? Share your opinion through comments below. Stay tuned into Motoroids for all the updates from the world of auto.
