Here is some positive news on the BMW-TVS smaller capacity motorcycle front. This jointly developed motorcycle is scheduled to arrive very soon as BMW Motorrad head Stephan Schaller has confirmed that the sub-500cc motorcycle will be unveiled in 2015. This piece of news comes from automotive website Motorcycle News who contacted Schaller after spotting a test mule of the motorcycle.

Speaking about the upcoming motorcycle, Schaller said, “The small capacity bikes are still on target for us in terms of the timetable which means this time next year the bikes will be presented. We will keep the original timing, but maybe we have to put a little bit more resource into this to keep with the schedule. In one year’s time I think we can start talking about the new bikes. The design and engineering are done by BMW in Munich and then TVS is doing much of the work to get these bikes ready for production.”

Entering the smaller capacity motorcycle segment will help BMW tap the emerging markets for better reach. Moreover, the partnership with TVS will unveil a new segment for the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer and expand its product portfolio for the Indian audience. Expect to see this new sub-500cc motorcycle from BMW at Germany’s Intermot motorcycle show in October 2015.

  1. TVS service is quite bad. When they’re not fit to service a 125cc motorbike properly, how can they take care of a ‘serious’ motorbike??

BMW is at a complete disadvantage with this TVS tie-up. They are going to share BMW technology to them and get a poor service network & low-quality inputs in return.
