Is this what the BMW S1000F will finally look like?

Ok, this might come to you as just another rendering or an artist’s impression of the much hyped BMW S1000F – the Bavarian manufacturer’s answer to the Ducati Multistrada. But the image that you see this time comes from Wunderlich- that majorly deals with customization and after market accessories for BMW motorcycles and believed to be closely associated with BMW Motorrad.

If you remember our earlier post on the spy pictures on the BMW S1000 Adventure motorcycle- the present image in comparison does show some variations. The handlebars are higher in comparison and the beak-ish front eliminated. Also the exhaust is slightly upswept as compared to the one in the spy picture.

Expected to be officially disclosed by the end of this year- most probably at Intermot in October, the BMW S1000F would be sporting a detuned version of the punchy S1000R four cylinder engine slated to be trimmed down to around 150 bhp as against the original 193. Tweaked more towards improved low and mid range grunt to handle a variety of terrains.

Rider aid electronics such as ride-by-wire, suspension DDC (Dynamic Dumping Control System), traction control, ABS and different engine maps should make it to the feature list of the BMW S1000F if it has to brawl with the Ducati. Also the new BMW would be targeting offerings from the Japanese stable with the likes of the Suzuki V Strom etc.

The naked BMW S1000R has already been appraised to be a worthy motorcycle despite its odd-ball looks. Thankfully the BMW S1000F is a better looker with those symmetrical lights and going by the history of the S series from BMW- the new S1000F should create a mark for itself.
