BMW India to hike prices by 3% across its range starting January 2016

BMW India will hike the price of its models across the complete range by 3% which will come into effect from 1st January 2016. This will include the models assembled in India, as well as the models which come through the CBU route.

The company had recently increased its investments to India which has brought up the localization to 50%.  The localized parts include engine and gearboxes from Force Motors; exhaust systems Tenecco automotive, axles from ZF hero chassis, HVAC units from Mahle India and Valeo, seats from Lear India, and wiring harnesses from Draexlmaier. The BMW manufacturing plant which is situated in Chennai operates at 60%-70% of its capacity producing 14,000 units annually.

The company‘s range of cars in India include the 1 series, 3 series, 5 series, 6 series and the 7 series, the 7 series Hybrid, the 3 series Gran Turismo (GT) and the Z4. The SUV range includes the X1, X3, X5 and the X6. The performance models include the M3 sedan, the M4 coupe, the M5 sedan, the X5M, the X6M, the M6 Gran-Coupe. Its MINI range includes the MINI 3 door, the MINI 5 door, the MINI convertible and the MINI Countryman. The Hybrid model i8 is also available in India. The complete MINI range and the M performance models are amongst the other models which come to India via the CBU route.
