The previous generation relates Bajaj with the Priya and Chetak scooters that were dotting our roads till, say, a dozen years back. Come the new millennium and Bajaj Auto decided to put and end to its scooter business and focused into developing bikes for our rapidly evolving market.
Now, it has emerged that BAL might be contemplating stepping back into the scooter market with an all new scooter.
It may be noted that Bajaj hasn’t completely been absent in the scooter segment and came out with the Kristal and Wave soon after it axed its geared scooters business but do we even need to mention what became of these Bajaj automatic scooters?
The Indian scooter segment is fast growing and we saw Piaggio introducing Vespa LX125 premium scooter last year. Also coming our way are more powerful automatic scooters from various biggies. Hence, it makes some sense for Bajaj to re-enter the scooter segment with a well sorted out product.
Powering the Bajaj automatic scooter will be a 125cc-150cc single cylinder motor with the trademark DTSi tech.
The upcoming Bajaj automatic scooter is being expected to come with features like front telescopic forks, large alloy wheels and class leading power-mileage figures.
