Another highlight of the Tata pavilion, along with the Kite 5 compact sedan, was the production ready Nexon compact SUV. The Nexon’s design takes after the Nexon Concept which graced the show floors at the 2014 Auto Expo. Technically, the Nexon is based on a heavily reworked version of the Vista platform.
Admittedly, the Nexon does look contemporary with its floating roof in contrast colour, blade like C-pillars, the rising, V-shaped window line highlighted by a thick contrast colored beading and the smiley front fascia with the “hexagon grille”.
At the rear, the sloping roof-line generates a compact rear window, while the tail lamps are bridged by a contrast colored strip. Tata Motors is also expected to offer an array of customization options for the Nexon, including contrasting colour combinations for roof and body along with body kits. The Nexon will ride on 16 inch wheels.
The Nexon will be powered by a turbocharged, 1.5-liter diesel engine, good for 110 PS and 260 Nm of torque. The Nexon will employ a power assisted rack and pinion steering setup, while ground clearance is pegged at a healthy 200 mm. Though the interiors are still under wraps, the Nexon will feature a 6.5″ touchscreen infotainment system sourced from HARMAN.
