Mahindra showcased the futuristic and modern looking Peugeot Metropolis 400i – RS three wheeled scooter at their pavilion, at the Auto Expo 2016. Flaunting its 3 wheeled setup with style, the Metropolis’ front wheels and suspension tilt when cornering, so that it turns and steers like a motorcycle, but courtesy of three tyres gripping the road, remains stable and planted.

It is powered by Peugeot’s new 400i Low Friction Engine, which develops 34.5 bhp, offers 38 Nm of torque and propels to scoot to a top speed of 150 kph! In tight conditions, riders can lock the Metropolis upright at the push of a button, for improved stability in slow-moving traffic, at the filling station and when pushing the scoot into a parking space. Synchro Braking links the twin 200mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes, while a tyre pressure monitor, with a real time display in the dashboard, is included as standard.

Other technical features include an electronic key-less ignition that is recognised within 1.5 m of the Metropolis, an electric parking brake, Daytime LED running lights, twin storage bays located beneath the seat and a boot which can be independently opened remotely using buttons on the dashboard, along with a 12-volt power socket in the glove box. The Peugeot Metropolis comes with 2x55W halogen bulbs and features LEDs in each of the 2 visual optics and in the offset indicators.

The instrument cluster includes a function to monitor the pressure of each wheel, average and minimum consumption and tell-tale indicators. In addition, the dashboard is pre- equipped for a sat nav system. The thermoformed windscreen has a new multi-position setting adjustment, meaning it can be lowered or raised in under 5 seconds just by pressing on it. No details are available if Mahindra will get this product to India. Do voice your opinion though, if you’d like to see such products being sold here.
