Tata Motors showcased the Nexon concept at the Auto Expo 2014. Now according to a report by Cartoq, the official production timeline for the concept has been revealed.

According to Ranjit Yadav, stand-in president of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicles business unit, the Nexon will go on production in the next 24 months. Hence we can expect the production version of the car to hit the Indian streets by early 2016.
The Nexon compact crossover rides on the modified version of Tata’s X1 platform. The X1 platform has underpinned a number of Tata passenger cars like the Vista and Manza. However, the Tata Nexon is the first compact SUV from Tata Motors to ride on the X1 platform.
Powering the Tata Nexon concept is a 3 pot 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol engine which produces a max power output of 108 Bhp and peak torque of 170 Nm. This engine is paired to the 5 speed automated manual transmission which will also be available with the upcoming Tata Zest comapct sedan. Tata Motors claims the to speed of the Nexon at 180 kmph and a fuel efficiency figure of 17.6 kmpl. The Tata Nexon measures under 4m in length and will qualify for the small car excise duty benefits.
