Audi cars in India come with a ‘special horn’

We really do not know if we should find humor here or get embarrassed on this. Recently, we came to know that popular German luxury carmaker Audi equips its cars sold in India with a special horn.  “Obviously for India, the horn is a category in itself,” Michael Perschke, Director, Audi India, recently told a news daily. “You take a European horn and it will be gone in a week or two. With the amount of honking in Mumbai, we do on a daily basis what an average German does on an annual basis. The horn is tested differently – with two continuous weeks only of honking, the setting of the horn is different, with different suppliers,” he said. Another fact we got to know is that thanks to the high number of Audi owners availing the services of a chauffeur, the car interiors have been redesigned so that “you can be more in command from the rear seat.”

This news surely generates a lot of interest. What it also generates is a debate if India is ready for all these cars on sale here.

  1. This has to be the biggest joke for us and biggest embarrassment for Audi, even the cheap chinese horns work well even for a long time.. But a luxury German manufacturer says this means that they use even worse parts..

  2. Can't say about India but I'm surely not ready to for all the cars on sale. Someday may be… 😛 When I buy an Audi I'll buy with an European spec horn, I'll also honk less and obviously I'll be driving my own car… 🙂
