We reported in detail when Audi showcased the A3 E-Tron concept at 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo. Now, it has emerged that Audi intends to showcase the production spec Audi A3 E-Tron plug-in hybrid at the fast approaching Geneva Motor Show that will be held early next month.
The latest plug in hybrid from Audi sports a 1.4-liter TFSI turbocharged petrol engine that is combined with an electric motor. The gasoline engine has a peak power output of 148hp (150PS) and the electric motor produces another 101hp (102PS). The drivetrain is mated to a new six-speed e-S tronic gearbox that transfers power to the front wheels.
The car has a 0-100kmph acceleration figure of 7.6 seconds and has a top whack of 222 km/h (138mph).
The Audi A3 e-tron comes with three drive modes- only combustion engine, only electric drive and the hybrid. In only-electric mode, the e-tron model has a top speed of 130kmph and car travel up to 50 kilometers.
