The Ashok Leyland Stile MPV is certainly taking its own sweet time coming to the fast developing Indian car market. Regulars here would remember that we reported in detail when it recently emerged that the Stile would be launched by the third quarter of this year. It may be noted that the Stile was earlier scheduled to be launched in the end of 2012. It is also being said that the upcoming Ashok Leyland Stile MPV would be positioned below the Nissan Evalia in terms of pricing.
The Ashok Leyland Stile will come in two engine variants- diesel and CNG. There are good chances that the Ashok Leyland Stile would borrow the tried and tested 1.5 Litre Renault K9K turbocharged diesel engine from the Evalia. Nissan Evalia’s diesel motor has a max power output of 85 Bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The diesel engine is mated to a five speed manual gearbox. Safely expect Ashok Leyland Stile’s diesel motor to have a max. power figure of 70bhp. The other variant will be powered by a CNG powerplant. Both the variants are expected to have really low running costs and could appeal to fleet operators and local cab owners.
While the Evalia is being promoted as a family MPV, the Stile would cater to the CV market. The Stile would also skip on many features that the Evalia has.
It is now being said that the Ashok Leyland Still will be launched in India on July 16 2013. The source of this info are the good folks at AutoCarPro.
What do you say? Should the Ertiga be scared?
