The Hyundai i10 has to be among the most successful compact cars of recent times. While the car is fast losing out to new diesel powered competition that arrived in the form of Chevrolet Beat and the likes, there was a time when the i10 sent rival car manufacturers running back to their drawing boards.
The next generation of Hyundai i10, which has good chances of having class leading specs and features, has been caught on numerous occasions and would make it to Indian market soon after its international debut.
The new i10 will be an important launch for India and we won’t be too surprised to see it upping the ante in the lower B segment of our car market. It may be noted that the Korean auto giant surely knows a thing or two about small cars and the i20 and the current gen i10 are enough evidence of the fact that Hyundai small cars have what it takes to take on their Japanese counterparts.
One of the major factors for the dip in sales of current i10 is the rising fuel prices and Hyundai Motors India Ltd. intends to solve this by launching both the diesel and petrol engine variants.
The new Hyundai i10 (codename: BA) should make its public debut sometime in the middle of this year. It has today emerged that the new Hyundai i10 might be called the Hyundai Brilliant in the Indian car market.
It is being said that the new Hyundai Brilliant will come with class leading interior space, features and striking exterior styling.
The diesel variants of the Brilliant will be powered by a three cylinder version of the i20’s diesel engine. This motor would have a peak power figure of 68 bhp and a max torque rating of 160 Nm. The car will have a claimed fuel economy of 24-25kmpl. The petrol engine on offer will continue to be the same 1.2 litre variable valve tech Kappa engine that powers the current car.
The Hyundai Brilliant will be launched with an attractive price tag and the car is expected to be as much as INR 35-50,000 cheaper than the entry level i20 petrol and diesel variants. The price of Hyundai Brilliant base petrol model will start at close to INR 4 lakhs and the base diesel will come with a starting price of around INR 5 lakhs.
