Hyundai has launched their much awaited and so-called ‘Super Normal’ Elantra / Avante Sport variant in South Korea. Priced at 19.6 million Won (approx INR 11.3 Lakhs) the Elantra Sport has been pumped up with power and features and gets pleasant design upgrades at all corners. The sedan was recently spotted undisguised at a dealership yard in South Korea.
On the visual front, the Elantra Sport looks sportier and aggressive due to the redesigned front fascia as compared to the regular version. The headlamp units feature a rebuilt illumination cluster with DRLs, halogen bulb and turn indicators. The front grille gets six horizontal chrome strips that impart the sedan with a wider stance. Other visual upgrades are seen on the bumper lip, air-intakes, taillight clusters and the tailgate. The performance sedan drives on 18 inches alloy wheels with a tyre config of 225 / 40R18 at all four corners.
The Elantra Sport wears a ‘Turbo’ badge on its front grille indicating to the turbocharged powerplant fitted behind the grille. Powering the sedan will be a 1.6 T-GDi that is capable of producing a power of 204Bhp at 5,500rpm and a peak torque of 264Nm between 1,500 and 4,500rpm. A 7-speed DCT gearbox will kick in the power to the front wheels. The Elantra Sport will be equipped with a newly developed independent Multi-link rear suspension for its assistance.

- Automatic Emergency Braking Systems (AEB, including pedestrian protection)
- Smart Cruise Control (SCC)
- Avante sports interior with black-red upholstery
- Semi-bucket seats
- Flat-bottom steering wheel
The Hyundai Elantra Sport will roll out in three variants – Elantra Sport MT – 19,600,000 Won (approx. INR 11,38,000), Elantra Sport 7DCT – 21,580,000 Won (approx. I hope when it hits the US shores as the Elantra Sport, that it will have the ventilated seats and heated steering wheel, as the Korean version!
