Toyota Fortuner TRD

2016 Toyota Fortuner TRD with 4.0-litre petrol V6 packs 235 HP

If the 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine in the 2016 Toyota Fortuner comes across a bit lethargic you (trust us, it will), here’s something that’ll rock your boat. Showcased at the 2016 Oman Motor Show was the 2016 Toyota Fortuner TRD with a 4.0-litre V6 petrol engine under its hood.

Cosmetic upgrades include a bunch of exclusive TRD accessories like a black plastic mesh grille with TRD branding, matte-black plastic fog lamp surrounds, matte-black TRD specific alloy wheels, TRD branded side running boards, chrome surrounds for the tail lamps, along with sportier front and rear bumpers.

Whoops! Looks like someone flicked the gear knob.

The interiors are no different from the 2.8 Z variant, featuring an all-black, leather trimmed dashboard with metallic accents and tan-leather seat upholstered seats. Equipment on offer aboard the 2016 Toyota Fortuner TRD include a power-operated tailgate, rear view camera, a new 8-inch touchscreen equipped infotainment system, an optional 8-inch Rear Seat Entertainment system, and automatic climate control.

But its under the hood where the 2016 Toyota Fortuner TRD shows it true colours, because in there lies a naturally aspirated V6 petrol lump displacing 4.0 litres and churning out a respectable 235 HP. Peak torque is rated at 376 Nm, that’s still less compared to what the diesel power-plants have to offer. The V6 is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and part time 4×4 system as standard.
