A brochure of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander facelift has surfaced online. It gives us a glimpse of the SUV that may make its way to India later in 2015. The leaked images show the PHEV plug-in hybrid variant of the Japanese SUV, though we reckon this won’t make its way to India. The car itself, was showcased at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. The 2016 Outlander has undergone some nip-tucks on its appearance and sports the new Mitsubishi design theme, which can also be seen on the bigger Montero.

The front of the new 2016 Outlander SUV gets a revised bumper with what Mitsubishi calls the “Dynamic Shield” philosophy. This new design renders the SUV with a wide-looking front fascia, which sends out a more macho image to other road users. The headlights and front grille have been given the stretch treatment and the former also house daytime-running lights. The back of the Outlander now gets bigger taillight units and receive LEDs for an added dose of freshness. The rear bumper has grown in size and houses some lighting elements, which includes the reversing lights.

The interior picture shows features such as automatic climate-control, an updated infotainment system, new 4-spoke steering wheel, metallic accents on the dashboard. Also, in this picture, you can also spot the brand-new CVT gearbox, which according to the carmaker is now tuned more towards performance. The boffins at Mitsubishi have also been working away on the 2016 Outlander’s body and other mechanical bits. The SUV will now have a more rigid chassis and there have been alterations to the suspension.

There seems to be two new colours on offer for the 2016 model.

To improve passenger comfort further, Mitsubishi has endowed the 2016 Outlander with better NVH levels. The windscreen gets better glazing for reduced cabin noise intrusion, with the engine bay getting more insulation to reduce engine noise from creeping into the cabin. As a whole, the entirety of this cabin gets more sound-insulation over the outgoing model. The reworked dampers, steering mechanism and the performance-oriented CVT gearbox are all intended to make this a more rounded and dynamic around the bends.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander now looks more mature and grown up.

Hindustan Motor Finance Corp (HMFCL) will get this SUV to India somewhere in the end of 2015. That said, the 2016 Outlander will only sport a petrol engine at first. A diesel mill will show itself under the bonnet in 2016. All these changes are sure to make the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander a better package.
