The 2016 Auto Expo is just few days away and automakers have started dropping hints, publicizing, and teasing their product portfolio that will be showcased at the mega event. We updated you with news from Maruti Suzuki, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Jeep and others. While these automakers are creating a buzz, Toyota is still keeping mum. Although Toyota is good at doing that, there is news slipping out.
Toyota will showcase the highly anticipated 2016 Innova at the Auto Expo. Dubbed as the Kijang Innova, the MPV was launched in Indonesia last year. Even before its launch a test mule of the new gen Innova was spotted doing rounds on the Mysore Highway and since then its India launch is speculated.

The MPV rolled out in petrol and diesel variants for Indonesia, but that seems a bit difficult for India. As the 2016 Innova diesel is powered by a ‘SuperGD Engine’ which is a 2.4 litre four-cylinder 2GD-FTV turbo diesel engine, the engine configuration does not comply with the ban imposed in Delhi. The Supreme Court of India has banned registrations of new diesel vehicles above 2000cc till 31st March 2016. Anyway the diesel power plant generates 149 PS at 3400 rpm with an impressive 359 Nm of torque between 1,200 and 2600 rpm. The petrol variant draws power from a 2.0 litre Dual VVT-i 1TR-FE four-cylinder engine that makes 139 PS at 5,600 rpm and 183 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. Both the variants of the all new Innova are substantially powerful than the previous gen.
Along with the Innova, Toyota is expected to showcase the all new 2016 Toyota Fortuner. The SUV was launched in Thailand last year. The petrol variant will be powered by a 2.7-litre 4 cylinder engine that generates 166 hp and 245 Nm of torque. The diesel version will draw power from a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, available in two states of tune that will produce the same 150 bhp figure but a different torque figure of 343 Nm and 400 Nm respectively.
The next in the line is the Toyota Corolla facelift. Not much of it is known as of now, earlier we reported about the leaked patent images. The images showed the aggressive looking facelift Corolla. As for what powers the new Corolla is not known but we can expect it to drive with reworked engines of the current gen.
Along with these a hybrid offering from the carmaker will share the pavilion at the event. The 2016 Toyota Prius is powered by a 1.8-Liter, 4-cylinder Aluminum DOHC 16-Valve engine with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) tech. The engine produces 95hp of power at 5,200 rpm and a torque of 142 Nm at 3,600 rpm. This hybrid is likely to be accompanied by the Toyota TS040 Hybrid racecar.
All of these Toyotas will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo but no official words on any launch yet. It is about time to see what these automakers have in store for us. Till then Stay tuned to Motoroids as we are going to cover the event live!
