German luxury automobile manufacturer Audi has revealed the launch details of the 2016 A4 in India. According to Audi India, the new A4, which made its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, is slated for a launch on 8th September 2016. It will replace the current generation A4 that has been around for a while now.

Based on parent company Volkswagen’s MLB Evo platform, the 2016 A4 is 95 kgs lighter than its predecessor, apart from being bigger and more fuel efficient as well. The new model also comes loaded with further technological advancements as compared to the outgoing model. In India, the all new A4 will be launched only with the option of a petrol engine while the diesel motor equipped A4 will arrive later during its life cycle.

Powering the 2016 A4 will be the 1.4-litre turbocharged four cylinder TFSI engine that is capable of producing an output of 150 hp at 5000-6000 rpm while the peak torque which stands at 250 Nm comes up at 1500-3500 rpm. Transmission duties are performed by a seven speed dual clutch S-Tronic gearbox. This powertrain enables the new A4 to achieve speeds of 0-100 kmph in 8.5 seconds, with the top speed being limited to 210 kmph.

Features on the new A4 will include LED headlamps, DRLs and tail-lamps; four driving modes, virtual cockpit, MMI infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, sunroof, etc. Once launched, the all new 2016 Audi A4 will rival the Jaguar XE, BMW 3 series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
