The 2015 Ford Figo hatchback for India has been leaked ahead of its launch tomorrow (23 September 2015). Essentially a hacked version of the Figo Aspire compact sedan that we love quite a bit, the new Figo hatchback will replace its ageing predecessor.

Except from the back, the Figo looks exactly like the Figo Aspire. The trapezoidal Aston-Martin like grille, the large, up-swept headlamps, the 14″ alloy wheels and the raked windscreen – all the characteristic visual elements are similar to that of the Aspire compact sedan. At the back, the hatchback gets a roof mounted spoiler, a wash/wipe feature and similar tail lamps like those on the Apire. While the Aspire gets chromed triangular elements on its fenders, the hatchback has to do with plastic ones.

Even the insides are the same, but the hatchback gets an all-black treatment, as compared to the compact sedan’s dual tone black and beige interiors. The hatchback also features brushed silver inserts for the centre console, steering wheel and door trim, instead of the piano black trim used inside the compact sedan. All the features, including the MyFordDock, steering mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, height-adjustable seats, smart key and the SYNC multimedia system, will be carried over.

Already on sale in Brazil, the Figo for India will be share its engine line-up with the Aspire, which means that the hatchback will be available with a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. These include a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated, Ti-VCT petrol engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission, good for 88 PS of peak power and 112 Nm, a 1.5 liter TDCi diesel engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission, good for 100 PS of peak power and 215 Nm of torque, along with a 1.5 liter Ti-VCT petrol unit which will come exclusively mated to a new 6-speed, dual clutch, Ford PowerShift automatic transmission. Power for the latter stands at 112 PS, while torque is rated at 136 Nm.
