The Cruze has to be among the most successful cars to have worn a bow tie badge in recent times. Not only has the car brought lot of sales to Chevrolet India, it has also helped the American carmaker with making a name for itself in midsize sedan markets of many countries.
We reported in detail when the Chevrolet Cruze got a midlife facelift last year and was introduced as the 2013 model. However, thanks to increasing heat from rivals such as the new Hyundai Elantra, the boffins at Chevrolet are busy with the development of the next generation Cruze.
The car has been caught testing and various reports suggest that it would be launched towards the end of 2014 and will be billed as the 2015 model. The next generation car will be longer and will come with more space for the rear passengers. The car is also expected to get a bigger boot and the new Cruze will be a tad wider too.
The upcoming new Cruze will come with an updated features list and will have increased stress on passenger comfort. The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze will be first built at the company plant in Lordstown, Ohio for the US market.
It is expected that the car will continue to be powered by the same engines and this means that the 2015 Cruze will be powered by the same 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine that powers the current car. The upcoming Cruze will sport a sharper design with a sportier front end.
