2015 BMW X6 and X6 M will soon come to India

The new X6 is more edgier than its predecessor.

It’s good news for people who find themselves flush with a lot of money and looking for something snazzy to go around in. According to reports, the Bavarians are going to send across two variants of this SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) over to India somewhere in the second half of 2015. This means that the X6 will be shipped to us as a CBU and that means that it won’t be cheap. Reports suggest that BMW will only be selling us two versions of this massive SAV – the xDrive40d and the more extravagant but ridiculous, X6 M.

The boot looks less stubby now and is better integrated into the car’s back-end.

This 2nd generation X6 was revealed to the world during the 2014 Paris Motor Show. And one of the first things to catch our eyes was the fact that this massive coupe-SUV mishmash of a car, can now finally seat 5 people. This makes the new X6 a far more practical proposition than its predecessor. The SAV is based on the new gen X5 and carries over some of the same design cues such as the headlights and the front grille. But that said, the X6 does stand out more prominently as compared to its X5 sibling. This SAV always pulled attention wherever it went, and that remains the same even to this day. With its sharp and aggressive front, rising waistline, coupe-styled roofline and a stocky (less with this gen) boot, the X6 makes its presence felt, albeit in an awkward manner, due to its “unique” design.

The 2015 X6 M will get a sportier three-spoke design steering wheel.

The xDrive40d will under its bonnet, a mighty 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six diesel engine that pushes out over 300 Bavarian horses and a beefy 600 Nm of torque. All this is channelled through a fantastic 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox to all four corners of the car by the xDrive AWD (all-wheel drive) system. But don’t take this car off the road because the AWD system is tuned for on-road dynamics, not off-tarmac mud plugging. Plus, those low-profile performance rubbers won’t find any grip in the absence of a road.

The 2015 X6 M is the real beast in the family.

India will probably get the 2015 X6 M, as well. This beast has the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol motor out of the the perfect M5 and puts out over 550 horses. The 2015 X6 M will be revealed at the upcoming 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. When released in India, these cars will be shipped over as CBUs and will be on the expensive side (no kidding). Prices might range from Rs. 94 lakhs to a stratospheric Rs. 1.4 crores.
