2014 Paris Motor Show: The Glitterati on wheels lined up for this year

Bentley Mulsanne Speed

Bentley redefines the fastest ultra-luxury driving experience in the world with a new pinnacle flagship. The new Mulsanne Speed is tailored for the driver, with 537 PS (530 bhp / 395 kW), 1,100 Nm (811 lb.ft) and selectable sports suspension and steering on demand. The reengineered powertrain, featuring Bentley’s mighty 6¾-litre twin-turbo V8, propels the Mulsanne Speed to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds (0‑100 km/h in 4.9 seconds) and on to a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h). In modern Bentley tradition, the extra performance is matched by markedly improved efficiency; a 13% gain means a range extended by 50 miles (80 km).

Volvo XC90

Volvo Car Group will be showcasing its all-new Volvo XC90 to the wider media audience at this year’s Paris Motor Show, just weeks after its international debut in Sweden. A press conference will be held on Thursday 2nd October 2014 to present Volvo’s first vehicle to be built on its brand new SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) chassis and fitted with Volvo’s own in-house designed and built powertrains.

Mazda MX-5

The all-new Mazda MX-5 will make its European auto show debut in October at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. First unveiled last week at Mazda Space, Mazda’s new European event hub in Barcelona, the MKIV Mazda MX-5 is expected to give another boost to the unconventional Japanese brand, which is currently riding a wave of success.

Honda Civic

Honda will showcase the 2015 Swindon built Civic model range and the launch of the new Civic Sport derivative at the 2014 Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris. Both the Civic and Civic Tourer benefit from a new front exterior design, providing a new sporty outlook for the model featuring new headlamps with integrated daytime running lights and a new sleek front bumper. The Civic hatchback also features a new rear bumper, side skirts, a rear spoiler finished in black, and LED rear combination lamps. The European Civic line-up has been expanded with the introduction of a new derivative, the new Civic Sport. Based on the Civic hatchback, and powered by the 1.6-litre, 120 PS diesel engine or the 1.8-litre, 142 PS petrol engine.

Honda European Spec Jazz

Honda will unveil its European spec Jazz at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The new European Jazz will offer improved fuel economy and higher performance thanks to its new Earth Dreams Technology engine. The new 1.3 litre i-VTEC petrol engine is supported by either a six-speed manual (replacing the previous five-speed unit) or a CVT transmission.

Infiniti Q80 Inspiration

Infiniti will introduce the progressive Q80 Inspiration to the media and provide a glimpse into its high-performance and efficient hybrid-electric powertrain implementation as well as additional technologies. In profile, Infiniti Q80 Inspiration extends to 5052 millimetres (198.9 inches) with a long wheelbase of 3103 mm (122.2 in) framed by custom 22-inch five-dual-spoke lightweight alloys. It strikes an imposing stance with its width of 2027 mm (79.8 in) and height of 1350 mm (53.1 in).

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will present the world debut of the Outlander PHEV Concept-S at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The Outlander PHEV Concept-S is a concept model based on the Outlander PHEV 4WD SUV plug-in hybrid vehicle. The Outlander PHEV Concept-S is a concept model presenting a special design package for the production Outlander PHEV.

Toyota C-HR Concept

Toyota will unveil its new C-HR Concept at the Paris motor show, a vision for a hybrid-powered compact crossover that displays an emphatic new design language. The show car gives an early hint of a kind of vehicle Toyota would like to bring to market. The C-HR Concept introduces an expressive new design approach with a diamond styling theme. Beneath the flowing cabin profile, the lower bodywork has been sculpted to create faceted surfaces, like the precision cutting of a gemstone.

Ssangyong XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure

SsangYong Motor Company will unveil two development concepts, XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure are near production ready concepts of the soon to be launched X100. Based on the brand’s development philosophy of ‘Robust, Specialty and Premium’ and design theme of ‘Nature born – 3 Motion’, the XIV (eXciting user-Interface Vehicle) is a B-segment SUV series that has been shown at previous international motor shows over the past four years, the first time beginning at the IAA Frankfurt in 2011.

XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure are powered by either a 1.6 litre petrol or 1.6 litre diesel engine that meet Euro 6 emission standards, and measure 4,195mm in length and with a 2,600mm wheelbase. These two new concepts offer style, practicality and convenience for the smart user, and the new car will go on sale next year.

Hyundai New Generation i20

Hyundai will showcase its new generation i20 at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.The New Generation i20 has been designed and developed in Europe, and three key attributes in particular underline how it meets the needs of European consumers: class-leading interior space, a host of high-technology and comfort-enhancing features, and distinctive, refined design. Hyundai’s European design team has created a bold front aesthetic. The upright chrome-framed hexagonal grille has been lowered for design and engineering purposes. A thin, horizontal grille connects the front headlamp clusters, which include bi-function projection headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED positioning lamps. A lower grille houses the front fog lamps, and emphasises the powerful stance of the car.
