It is no secret that Bavarian premium car maker BMW is readying the facelift version of its 5 series sedan to face the much publicized E Class facelift that is ready to go on sale in most international markets it is sold in.

Although there is nothing wrong with the way the current car looks, the launch of the facelift will certainly inject some freshness into the car and would help it to face the updated E Class from its arch rival.

The botox treatment will be imparted to all the variants of the current 5 series. This includes the super exciting M5 that we tested recently. The M5 is the flagship variant of the F10 5 series and has enough performance to teach a lesson or two to some of the two seat sportscars out there.

The priciest 5 series variant on sale already has enough to attract any car buyer who has a huge bank account and a thing about cars. However, the M5 won’t remain oblivious to the facelift and like the lesser variants of the 5 series family, would get minor updates to the exterior styling.

The 2014 BMW M5 facelift was recently spotted parked near the holy Nurburgring in Germany. The prototype was probably there for testing on the track.

While the remaining variants of the 5 Series family will get Air Curtain intakes at the front, the M5 will get refreshed headlights for the updated front fascia. The car will also get revised set of taillights and a new grille with fewer vertical bars.

On the inside, the M5, along with other 5 series variants, will get a new iDrive system. This system will have a touchpad with which the drivers can write making use of their finger tips. The car might also get 4G compatibility.
