We reported in detail when the all new 2013 Skoda Octavia sedan was spotted testing in Bangalore and Mumbai. The much talked about car has now been spotted in Pune. The car that has been spotted was seen sporting a sunroof and DRLs and this means that the test mule could have been that of a high end variant. The new Skoda Octavia continues testing without wearing any kind of camouflage and while we haven’t yet received any official launch date from Skoda India, undisguised test mules mean that the car is fast nearing its India launch.
The new 2013 Skoda Octavia is looking all set to become the first VW Group car in India to be underpinned by the much hyped MQB platform. Also, the new Octy is looking poised to up the ante in the lower D segment of fast developing Indian car market. The new Octavia is not just larger but is also better equipped than Laura. In all probability, the car would also offer a much better value for money proposition when it is launched in our country. While it is pretty much for sure that the 2013 Octy will be pricier than the Laura, the fact that it will be a more sorted out car that will offer more in almost all aspects will surely justify the higher price tag.
It is being said that Skoda might increase ground clearance for the India spec vehicle. Also, the car might come to us with a retuned suspension and an ECU remap for making the car more suitable for Indian road conditions. The new Octavia is likely to continue being powered by the current set of engines.
