2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 Facelift Spotted Again

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest selling carmaker, has never been really successful in taking the upper C segment sedan segment by storm. Maruti Suzuki launched the Baleno in the start of this millennium and the car, in spite of being a great all rounder, could never really become as popular as the Honda City or the Hyundai Accent. The Baleno was replaced by the SX4 sedan a few years later and the replacement sedan continues to soldier on in the very competitive upper C segment.

The Maruti Suzuki SX4, a sedan derivative of the SX4 crossover sold in Europe, sold in respectable numbers until the advent of the all new Honda City. Sales took a further hit once the Indian car market shifted its focus to diesel powered cars.

Maruti launched the diesel variant of the SX4 by plonking in the 1.3 Litre Multijet diesel engine some time back. However, the new variant got a lukewarm response and couldn’t sell in decent numbers.

We were the first in the country to report that Suzuki is already working on the all new SX4 that will surely come to our market. However, MSIL plans to give the ageing car a mild facelift and the car has been caught testing again. The SX4 facelift will come with a beefier bumper, new front grill that will replace the current honey comb unit, revised tail lamps and probably minor changes in the interiors.

The Maruti Suzuki SX4 facelift could be launched as soon as in March 2013 and the spy pics are enough proof of the fact that MSIL plans to introduce the same facelift in our country that is on sale in China.

We are still unsure if the minor nose job would make the SX4 a hot favourite in India. What do you say?
