2013 Europe spec Honda CRV gets 1.6 Liter i-DTEC diesel motor

The 2013 European Honda CR-V was recently revealed by the Japanese manufacturer and as expected, the European version features a few cosmetic changes on being compared with the American version. This is not all as the Europe spec car also gets different engine options that include a set of two turbo diesel motors. While the 2.2 Liter i-DTEC diesel engine that the current gen CRV shares with Civic and the Accord will continue being on offer, the new CRV will also offer an option of the 1.6 Liter i-DTEC diesel motor. The 1.6 liter i-DTEC will be offered only with the front wheel drive entry level diesel variants of the car. The 1.6 Liter i-DTEC pumps out 118 Bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. The petrol engine on offer will be the 2 Liter i-VTEC motor that powers the current gen of CRV.

Now, the real news here is that the new gen CRV has good chances of coming to Indian market and in a SUV/Crossover hungry market like ours, a diesel powered crossover from Honda makes a lot of sense for the Japanese manufacturer. It may be noted Honda CRV has enjoyed a lot of popularity in Indian market. However, thanks to high price tag and lack of diesel option, sales of the car have taken a hit in recent times.

  1. has a good chance, lost it. It will definitely come here.. Honda cannot afford to miss out on the cream segment, it might have low volumes but gives a lot of payback.. The fortuner looks stupid for me, this is the car one should have..

  2. hehe. i like how the article starts saying 'honda rider' but the picture shows stoner in ducati leathers. Anyhow he really dominated the class this year.
