2012 Fiat Linea, Punto to be introduced on 3rd January

In an official statement, Fiat India has announced that the company will be introducing the 2012 version of its Linea and Grande Punto in India on the 3rd of January 2012. The new versions of the car will retain their engine, transmission and underpinnings, but will feature some cosmetic and feature related upgrades.

The 2012 Linea will most likely be final cosmetic makeover for the Linea before its all-new 2013 model (shown on Motoroids a few days back) is launched. The new, 2012 version will not boast of too many changes on the exterior. The Linea, in all probability will see subtler changes than the Punto. The instrument cluster dials will now be black, and so will be the center console.

It would be interesting to see whether Fiat bring their reasonably refurbished 2012 Punto displayed at the Frankfurt Auto Show) here, or incorporate some minor tweaks in the current version. Front what we have come to learn the new Punto will be an India specific version, and not the new 2012 variant.

If, however, Fiat brings the international 2012 version here, shown in the pictures, it will have all new front bumper with a new split grille incorporating the air-dam. The position of the fog lamps is also new. Just like the front section the rear end too is different. The tail-lamps have been given a slight makeover, and the bumper too is new. Inside the cabin the layout and the quality has changed. There is also a new dashboard. The seat fabric too has been changed with a new, better material.

Count on us to bring you more dope on the cars in the coming days. Here we have some images of the 2012 versions of the two cars.
