More details on the 2011 Maruti Suzuki Swift are out. We called one of the Maruti dealerhips to get some more info on the upcoming Swift and managed to add quite a bit to what we already knew. These details include the variants, rough price estimates, specs and features of the car. We had already told you in one of our earlier posts that the new Suzuki Swift will boast more powerful and fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol engine with dual VTT tech will now produce peak power of 90PS and will deliver an ARAi certified fuel efficiency on 17.9kmpl, the diesel engine will have the output of 75PS and fuel efficiency of an impressive 23.8kml.
The biggest news is that the new Swift will now be available in the ZDI variant. Earlier, the diesel variant of the Swift was available only in the VDI, causing a lot of frustration among the prospective buyers who wanted all the amenities on their diesel car. The new Swift, as officially announced by Maruti Suzuki to its customers via a letter, will be more expensive than the current Swift and will be positioned as a more premium product. The increased price, however, will be justified by a bigger size, better engines, and most of all by more features inside the cabin. Here’s a copy of the letter sent by Maruti to its customers.
The letter suggests that those who had already booked their Swift hatchback switch to the new Swift, so they don’t have to wait for their car. Maruti is launching the new Swift on the 17th of August. When we called one of the Martui dealerships in Mumbai, we were told that the waiting period for the new bookings on the petrol Swift is 1 month, and that for the diesel Swift is three months.
The Swift, which of late had begun looking a tad too old in comparison with its new rivals, will once again have its cabin totally overhauled to be a step ahead in the game.The new car will boast features such as push button start, climate control and steering mounted controls to beat the rivals in the features list. As clear from the letter above, Maruti will price the new Swift higher than the current version, as a more premium product. We expect an increment of approximately Rs 30-40k above the current model.
