Regulars here would remember that we were among the very firsts in entire India to have reported in detail about the next gen 2014 Suzuki Alto aka Maruti AStar, which was spotted testing on public roads of Europe on several occasions.
We also reported almost a week back that a next gen AStar has been spotted testing in India and now, more pics of the next gen Alto/AStar testing on our roads have emerged on the cyber space.
Numerous spy pics that we have so far reveal that the next gen Alto would be dimensionally similar to the current Alto and we believe that the car would mimic the not-so-spacious interiors of the A-Star. All these spy pics also reveal that the 2014 Alto sports rather thick B and C Pillars and we can so find traces of the new SX-4 S-Cross crossover in the front grille of next Alto. Also, the taillamps seem to bear striking resemblance to those on the current JDM-spec Alto.
Previous spy pics have also revealed the interiors of the 2014 Alto and these pics made it clear that the interiors of the next gen car, just like the exteriors, are more evolutionary than revolutionary in design. However, we expect the interiors of the next gen car to benefit from improved quality of plastics.
The Suzuki Alto is easily among the most successful of small cars from the Japanese auto maker. The current Alto, which is the sixth generation model, is also sold as the AStar in many car markets (like that of India). The current gen Alto/AStar came way back in 2009 and hence, it would only be logical for Suzuki to soon come up with the next generation model. The next gen Alto is expected to have higher levels of equipment, fuel economy and power. Also, the new car could be launched with a small capacity diesel engine option.
We expect to be greeted by the all new Maruti AStar nay the 2014 Suzuki Alto at the upcoming 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates.
