VIDEO: Top Fuel drag bike crashes into another one at 200 mph, what happens next defies belief

Top fuel drag bikes

The two competitors with their Top Fuel drag bikes at the start line.

Top Fuel drag bikes are amongst the fastest machines on the planet. Fuelled by highly combustible nitro-methane that burns at over 2000°C, these motorcycles can produce 1500 horsepower. That’s more power than a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport! However, these rockets on two wheels are also 1500 times more dangerous than your average commuter bike. Even a single lapse in the rider’s concentration at 200 mph, chances are that he may well have to visit the hospital.

The rider of the yellow bike launched himself onto the wheelie bar of the other bike when they collided.

A Top Fuel drag bike, can reach speeds of over 220 mph (352 km/h) in under 6 seconds and cover the first 100 feet of the track in just over a second! That is a good thing, because if these engines run at full power for over 10 seconds, they might even explode. And as these bikes accelerate faster than anything else on two wheels, they are equipped with wheelie bars to prevent the front wheel from lifting into the air during that manic launch.

Filippos Papafilippou’s bike scrapes along the drag strip spewing flames.

As rider Filippos Papafilippou (rider of the yellow bike) launched off the start line, little did he realise that he will be riding ‘pillion’ on his competitor’s bike, soon. Even though the bikes made contact at 200 mph, the rider of the second bike even managed to not fall off and was decent enough to accommodate his fallen comrade. Watch the video and be amazed at this guy’s lucky escape from certain injuries or even death. Let us know what you thought about this and share your opinions below in the comments section.
