If you have been watching the Oscars ceremony last night, you might have already seen the first glimpse of the Cadillac CT6 on your TV. If not, we’ve got the entire spot, titled “The Daring: No Regrets,” right below.

In the 60-second ad that featured Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Boyhood director Richard Linklater, 23andMe founder Anne Wojcicki, among others, Cadillac showed off two of the signatures of its new direction.

The first was the setting: New York City, where the 112-year-old carmaker will set up its brand headquarters this year.  The second revelation was the first proper look at the new CT6 itself, a large four-door sedan that heralds the company’s shift to its new design language and revamped alphanumeric naming convention.

Set to Edith Piaf’s Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien (No, I Regret Nothing) the commercial is admittedly worthy of Oscar night, but you won’t be learning much about the CT6 from its brief appearance here.

From what we already know, the Cadillac CT6 will ride on the same Omega full-size RWD platform as the Buick Avenir Concept. The new platform is also said to allow the luxurious American sedan to utilise a nine-speed automatic transmission. When unveiled, the Avenir Concept utilised a 3.6-litre V6 engine and it is also anticipated this powertrain will be made available for the new CT6. Beyond this engine, a twin-turbocharged V8 is also expected to power select Cadillac CT6 variants alongside a new V8 and possibly even a four-cylinder model.

More details will be revealed following its official reveal on March 31, just days ahead of the New York Auto Show.
