The list of the World Car of the Year 2015 finalists has been released at the Geneva Motor Show. The long list which comprised extremely capable cars has now been shortlisted to three. What that means, essentially is that the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, Citroën C4 Cactus, Hyundai Genesis, Jeep Renegade, Mazda2, Mini Hardtop 4-door and Nissan Qashqai are now out of contention. The three finalists are the Ford Mustang, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Volkswagen Passat.
The finalists’ shortlist was generated by way of secret ballot exercised by a jury of 75 international auto journalists. The winner will be announced at the New York International Auto Show on April 12 2015.
However, it’s not just the World car of the Year which would be announced at the event. There are multiple award categories the three finalists for all of which have been listed. The Top Three in the World finalists in the 5 award categories are as follows:
